Sea Turtles

Fourth of July Week ‘07
Ed and I headed down to Norfalk, VA. Our journey was to bring our boat on the second leg of the trip North. We had a wedding to go to on Saturday night at Harkness Park in New London on the water. A fabulous wedding, full moon, perfect evening for a wedding! After the wedding, we went home, got some rest and got up early for our journey South. Sunday morning, there was no traffic through the city because it was so early. Skies were perfectly clear over the Tapan Zee Bridge with the New York skyline. What a beautiful morning and start of our vacation! On Route 13, Ed’s cellphone went off. It was his brother and his brother’s daughter. “Come have lunch with us at Ocean City, Maryland!” We both knew we had to get to Norfalk to gas up our boat and put water in it, but I said, “Who cares? Let’s go!” So we checked out the beaches in Maryland. They are just beautiful. We had lunch, and then we were on our way. We got to Norfalk to our boat and everything was great. We prepared it for our departure early in the morning. Monday morning we headed up the Chesapeake bay. Our destination was Washington, DC for the Fourth of July fireworks and parade. As we were heading out, we saw a fin in the water. It was a shark, not a dolphin this time! I was getting back into the groove of being on the big open bay of water, which is huge! You cannot even see land. It was a little choppy, but not too bad. As I got into the groove of being on the boat for a week, I always call in my spiritual guides just for a safe travel, and also God and the angels for protection being out there. Not too far into the Chesapeake bay, I yelled to Ed, “Turn the boat!” I thought it was a huge whale that came into the port side of our boat. It was a huge sea turtle! And as he turned to the right, the sea turtle was flapping its fin at me. It just took my breath away. In that moment, I knew we were going to have a fantastic journey on the water for the week. We were safe and everything was going to be just wonderful. My stomach calmed down and I started to breath normally. I was just so excited to see a huge sea turtle in this giant body of water. I know I am being guided and led to paint a sea turtle now with my art! Stay tuned for my next painting of a sea turtle! This happens to be the second time a sea turtle came up to the side of our boat. So I guess the journey continues! Also, the Fourth of July fireworks and parade was the most spectacular tribute to our country’s birthday and our soldiers fighting in the war for our country. I am just so blessed to have been a part of this celebration in the heart of DC. After leaving DC, we headed back down to Virginia and hooked up with a few friends. We spent two days there. While we were at that dock in the morning, two eagles were perched on the tree the entire two days next to us. Another fabulous blessing for the week. As we departed Virginia, we went to St. Michael’s, Maryland, which is a beautiful small port in Maryland. We spent the night there and headed to Delaware, where the Margaret is tucked away in the Delaware channel, waiting for the last leg of our destination North. Stay tuned for our further adventures!
