Hi Everyone,
Valentine’s Day is almost here and any one that knows me, knows it’s my favorite holiday.
I love hearts, pink and red colors together, what the holiday stands for and so much more…
When I think of Valentine’s Day,
I always remember our snowmobiling adventure of sledding the Gaspé Peninsula in Quebec, Canada.
It was a huge trip, 6 days in the outdoors, very, very remote in the mountains overlooking vistas that will just take your breath away.
Sometimes we’d get a peak of the St. Lawrence Seaway, and all of the churches placed on the peaks of these far away mountains.
They love all of the saints in Quebec, every town that you roll into is named after a saint’s name.
It’s so beautiful, breathtaking, and the people along the way are so spiritual, kind and polite.
We travel with the term,
“No reservations“,
because you never know how far you will get and the weather conditions.
Days are always long and challenging…
During this particular trip, we were snowmobiling with our best friends Brad and Lorraine, who love adventurous vacations like we do.
We all get along so well, and it’s always special.
It was the day before Valentine’s Day, and we were caught in an extreme blizzard at the end of the day.
We had to push on down the mountain to Gaspé Peninsula, which was our destination for that leg of our trip.
It just kept getting worse and worse with the snow conditions.
We were in a complete whiteout for miles, traveling in the dark. I just kept my eyes on Brad’s red brake lights, along with the tracks of his sled.
The snow was covering the tracks as quickly as he was making them.
It seemed like forever…
We finally sledded into the town and found a small hotel to see if they had two rooms available, and thank God they did.
It was the end of the land and we made it.
No views yet, because it was snowing like crazy.
There was a restaurant across the street, which was thankfully open.
We had to wait out the snow because it was too dangerous to leave the next day.
We were stuck there for three nights!
It happened to be Valentine’s Day the second night.
When Lorraine and I went back to our rooms, we couldn’t believe it-
Ed and Brad surprised both of us with a beautiful Valentine’s card and a box of chocolates on our pillows, along with dinner across the street.
We both were so surprised on when and where they went to find us a special happy Valentine’s Day card during a blizzard!
It was such a beautiful surprise!
Finally, in the morning the skies cleared, and the snow stopped.
The sun shone so brilliant outside, and we all got to see the huge sculpture of mountain rising out of this ocean floor.
The Gaspé Peninsula!
It was so beautiful, and a memory so magical for all of us to remember.
It looked like Bermuda in the wintertime.
It’s the memories, friends, and adventures that we all cherish forever.
Make your plans for your next adventure.
Write it down and make it happen!
It’s worth the journey my friends…
