Words!
I have always known how words play a huge impact on a person’s life.
A word spoken can be distractive, or a heavenly inspiration to another person.
We all have been there with words.
Names are the same way; they all have meanings. Some people are aware of the name that was gifted to them at birth, and it really lifts them. Others want to change their name.
I find this fascinating, and it shows how powerful words are.
I was sharing a story with my chica Linda Rosa this weekend. It was about how I met a young lady named Nova, which in her Hopi family means “chasing butterflies”, which I loved.
Rosa shared with me another anecdote about the name Nova, which was used for a car…
but it Spanish, it means “Doesn’t go”… so due to its name, the Nova car did not sell well in Spanish-speaking markets! So GM executives realized that sales were so poor in South America because of this, so they changed its name to “Caribe”, and the sales took off.
(Whether or not this story is true is up for debate, but it’s still another great example of the power of words!)
It’s all about words, names, and how they translate in all cultures.
