Mrs. Raccoon returns every year and has her babies in our huge tree!
She is so cute and truly fascinates me by how strong she is. She climbs to great heights effortlessly, hangs out on the limb of our tree, and sleeps there.
I can’t get anything done when the raccoons are here! I always want to enjoy their company.
The mask on her face is mysterious and magical. She can be looking right down at you and you can’t see her hidden in the tree.
The raccoon name comes from the Algonquin Indian word, “Arckunem,” which means “hand scratcher”.
When I look at how close their hands are to human hands, it amazes me. Also, how they love water and like to play with water, and wash the food they eat in water! They are tricksters- fast, and very clever.
