Hi everyone,
On Wednesday, May 24, my girlfriend Carol Moriarty’s daughter Jamie texted me early that morning letting me know that her dad, Jim Moriarty, has crossed the threshold…
My emotions were all over the place,
like everyone who has heard similar news…
We had just taken Carol, his wife, to a dance show just a few weeks previous.
Her daughter had explained to me that her dad (Jim) wasn’t doing well, and asked if I could bring her mom to the home that he was in.
No problems, I did;
I was so grateful to see him and talk with him… Hug him and kiss him…
Jim Moriarty, as well as his wife Carol Moriarty, were my favorite high school teachers.
I have been extremely close to them and their family for years.
I remember in 9th grade, Mr. Moriarty asked, “Does any one tap dance? My wife needs to borrow some tap shoes.”
Oh wow, yes! I lent my tap shoes to Carol.
Mr. Jim Moriarty taught me history like no one else could, and everyone who knew him in history class would agree.
The stories and great memories are truly endless, magical, and loving.
The Moriartys’ celebration of anniversaries, birthdays, and times at their lake property, (Carol’s Happy Place) are forever in my mind.
Memories are forever…
After hearing the bad news on Wednesday morning, I was very upset. I just needed to tap it away…
Well, when I went into my car to grab my tap shoes, they were gone, gone, gone!
I was so upset, so emotional, so crazy that morning. I went back to the house saying, “Why can’t I go tapping?”
I guessed my backyard birds needed me and I had to process all of this…
Still, no tap shoes, and I started blaming the dealership that replaced the new tires on my car on Monday for taking them out of the trunk of my car and misplacing them!
“Where are my tap shoes???”
I couldn’t let it go!
Then, when I went to work that morning it hit me…
Jim Moriarty wanted me to not locate my tap shoes on that morning to tell Carol,
“I will have the last dance with you!
As we promised…“
That was their agreement before they got married,
“If you let me tap dance,
I will let you golf…”
Jim, thank you for sending me the message to let your wife know to never stop dancing!
It’s the gifts along with all of the teachings that we are taught to hold on to when our friends and family decide to walk to the other side…
On the positive side,
I got home still upset about not locating my tap shoes. I explained to Ed my frustration. He said, “Meg, let me look in the trunk.”
He took everything out, and opened a spare tire spot in the trunk unknown to me,
and, BAM, my tap shoes were in there!!!
I was so, so, excited!
I truly knew this was Jim sending me a message to let Carol know that he is waiting to have the last dance with his beautiful wife of over 50 years!
As I told my story to his daughter Jamie, she agreed and was so connected with this message.
We are sometimes used as messengers.
Just embrace it, love it, and reflect upon it, my friends…
